We've redesigned our original wheelchair accessible jacket! Our block jacket has been designed to be easily put on and taken off whilst seated (just like our original jacket). However, it now comes with a removable back-panel so that it can be full length at the back for those who wear it in a standing position.

We've also made the swap to magnetic zips, making it even simpler to connect these at the wrist and get your jacket on in a hurry.

- A water resistant, unisex batwing style windbreaker
- For assisted dressing: Magnetic side zips allow jacket to fully open and be placed over head like a poncho. The sleeves connect at the wrist via magnetic zip and zip all the way down the sides of the jacket for accessible and easy fastening

Printed Label, no tags

None of JAM’s products have tags or care labels. Apart from the fact almost everyone finds tags annoying, for those with sensory-related dressing needs, tags can make a huge difference to comfort, and therefore regulation and participation in other more important activities. Printed-on labels are also beneficial for those with reduced mobility who may be at risk of getting pressure sores from big bulky tags, or are unable to adjust their clothing to eliminate the discomfort caused by tags and labels.

Magnetic Zips along both sleeves to open like a poncho

Zips along sleeves:
Both sides of our Jackets are fully zippable. When putting on, the zip connects at each wrist with magnetic zip ends (less fiddling around) and zips all along the sleeve and side of the Jacket. When taking off, you just find the zip at the side of the Jacket and slide it up until it disconnects at the wrist. By having the sides of the Jacket fully zippable, you no longer need to struggle to get Jacket sleeves over hands and arms with high spasticity or positioned in ways that are difficult to manoeuvre sleeves around. The zips are covered for discretion.

Opening like a poncho:
Due to the zippable sleeves and detachable back, the Jacket can be fully opened up and put on and taken off, just like a Poncho. This is what allows the Jacket to be put on and taken off with ease whilst seated in a Wheelchair. The Jacket simply gets placed over the head then zipped up! This means no more fiddling trying to move forward and back in the wheelchair to get the Jacket around the back and on both arms, as a traditional Jacket would.

Detachable back panel for optional cropped back

The panel at the back of our Block and Digby jackets are attached via a zip and press studs. This means this panel of fabric can be removed if necessary. When removed, the back of our jackets become shorter than usual, to prevent extra fabric bunching up between the wearer and a wheelchair. It also means you don't have to worry about trying to squeeze your hands down the back of the person in the wheelchair to push the bottom of the Jacket fully down when putting it on.

This is great for those that will wear the jacket in the seated position, such as wheelchair users. Because the panel is detachable, if you are not a wheelchair user then it means you can still wear the jacket as the panel can stay in position and the jacket will be full-length.
